Maths

 Another thing we have been  learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different   combinations as we could. 

Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table. But not the kind of table you eat off-a mathematical table.

 This week to end our procedure writing topic we have been creating our own game. I made a board game.  My theme was lake.

Play Make Create: ROBOT STOP

On Wednesday we used the story Robot Stop as our inspiration for our Play Make Create tasks.

My robot's eyes are at the top.  You have to say 'hello robot' to make him turn on.  He will say 'enter the password'. He has a mouth at the top that opens. To get the password you need to reach inside of him and pull the cardboard number pad out.  You press the numbers to enter the password.  Then he will get you whatever you want.  You open his front to get it.

Sound effects: I slide the handle of two spoons together and I thought it would sound like the tracks of my robot moving on the ground.

Map: My robot is in town and he has to go back home.  You have to follow the instructions to get him home.

For maths we have been working in mixed ability groups to solve problems. The focus has been solving word problems using place value. We have to select the correct the correct strategy to solve the problem. I have chosen two problems to show you how I work them out.

I find the addition easy.
